I’ve read and watched about the Antikythera mechanism in the past, but this is a worthwhile video if you haven’t ever heard of it (or about Archimedes and his odometer, or Ctesibius). When learning more about things like this it’s extremely difficult for me not to lament the Library of Alexandria. The glimpses of genius we do have from it only serve to increase the felt magnitude of the loss.
